New Patio Furniture

Greeting everyone, been over a week since my last blog....

I can start off by mentioning that I am doing my first race of the summer !  I signed up for the dino dash this weekend and will be doing the 10k race.  I am looking forward to it.  I have been able to get in a run a couple times a week to prepare for it, so I hope that will be enough.

I am also in the process of doing a reno in my basement bathroom.  I am replacing the wallpaper, mirror, tiled backsplash, and floor tile.  I have allready started the reno and hope to have everything completed by this sunday at the latest.  i will post some pics as I go.

This weekend marks the first time in many many years I will not be spending the labour day long weekend in Regina.  Usually the boys and I head up there for some fun, watch the Riders vs. the Bombers and then head back.  Strange how having a kid changes things !!!

My quest to become a pimp has been put on hold temporarily.  I was to write my pmp exam this past friday, but I put it off a few months.  I just wasn't able to get in the studying during the summer like I thought I was going to.  Anyway, at least now I can mentally prepare and write it soon.

Here's to hoping with the changes the Riders made will pay off and we can beat the 'hot' blue bombers this weekend.

Like my new patio furniture ?

Here is my boy dancing to the show Thomas and Friends.  I posted one similar to it on facebook.  Too funny.

Ryders joke of the day.

There were these three little old ladies sitting on a park bench minding their own business when suddenly a flasher jumped in front of them and exposed himself...the first old lady had a stroke...the second old lady had a stroke...but sadly the third old lady couldn't reach!!!

Vegas, to strip or not to strip.

Greetings folks, first blog in a while.  I was on a weeks worth of holidays and typically, I don't blog on holidays.
Speaking of my holidays, Ang and I met up with my bro and his wife Nic and went to Vegas for 4 days.
I have attached a lot of pics from the Vegas trip, and I will talk about the pro and cons of staying on or off the strip.

For this trip, we all stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel.  I have stayed here before and it is about a couple blocks off the strip.
Things I like about this hotel.  The best pool by far in Vegas.  I was at the pool 2 years ago, and it was the best pool then, but in the last 2 years they have added to it, making it the biggest pool in Vegas and the best.
I like the rock n roll atmosphere.  You walk around this place and all they play is rock n roll, none of the elevator music crap.  Plus they have a ton of memorabilia that you can look at and read about.
Some cons that people might have about this place....there is no food court, so you have to sit down for each meal which can be pricey.  Some times you just want to go to subway for a quick cheap lunch, but you can do it here.  You are looking at minimum $20 for every meal, let alone the expensive evening meals if you choose to do so.
And it is not on the strip, so you can't walk out the front door and be on the strip.  But, we took a cab from the Hard Rock to Planet Hollywood and it was 7 bucks.
Since I am a big pool guy, this outweighs the cons.  I could stay here every time I come to Vegas.
The Hard Rock Casino has been renovated and is 5 times the size it was before, but it is still one of the smallest casinos.  To me is doesn't matter though, I don't need a massive casino anyway.

Here are some pics from the room we stayed in at the Hard Rock.  We stayed in the new HRH towers.  So far, the best rooms I have stayed in in Vegas.

I liked the divider in the middle, a TV on each side, so you could watch TV in bed, or on the other side on the couch

Massive tub and separate shower....

And upon walking into the room, they had a giant KISS poster on the wall.  Each room had different rock n roll icons, mine just happened to have KISS

And another poster of KISS on the wall in our room, this was a cool shot

This is a shot from the lobby of the new HRH towers, there was a massive KISS banner.  Had to be almost 10 feet long and 4 feet high.

But if you went up close to the banner, you can see that the banner was made up of thousands of smaller KISS pictures

This one is for my buddy Shanewoo.  While we were at the Hard Rock, they had $2 Sailor Jerry drinks on the whole time we were there.

Not to mention the Sailor Jerry custom car parked out front.

Did i say that the Hard Rock had memorabilia ?  This was the coolest display in the whole hotel, one of my favorite bands, Slipknot.  Corey Taylor (#8), is the lead singer of slipknot, and they had some masks that he has worn over the years....such a cool display.

One night we went to a restaurant called Batista's hole in the wall.  I highly recommend checking this out when you go.  Great pasta, and all the wine you can drink, for free !!

Did I ever tell you that Vegas is full of Hot Babes ?  They are all over the place....

Here is one hot babe I hooked up with while in Sin City, but don't tell Ang !!!

That is about all I have for now.....

Ryders joke of the day

Husband: Honey, if I died, would you get remarried?
Wife: Well, I suppose so.
Husband: Would you and he sleep in the same bed?
Wife: I guess we would.
Husband: Would you make love to him?
Wife: He would be my husband then, dear.
Husband: Would you give him my golf clubs?
Wife: No... He's left handed

Barret Jackson ?

How is everyone's week going so far ?

1 more day and then a week's of holidays for me.

Let's get started.  Below is a pic of Ray Ray with his new Oilers putter on the green in Saskatoon.  Not sure if it really helped his game or not, but I just hope he replaced his divot after this putt.

Really, here is a reason why some people just shouldn't get plastic surgery.

So I was going through the toys that Ryder has and came across this vintage piece.

Seriously, how cool is this car ?  A big wheel in the back with a small wheel in the front.
It's got 1'' rims in the back with 1/2'' rims in the front.

Everything on this ride is factory, no after market work here.

I'll bet you can't track one of these down anywhere, especially one that is a convertable.

Tell me if you aren't playing with this on the block that every kid wouldn't be jealous.

Let's analyze this a little more.....

Here is the front view of this bad boy.  Sure it may have a couple nicks, but the paint is original

Let's see whats under the hood.  Original 'numbers matching' Tonka drivetrain.  None of the North American crap, this guy was made in Japan !
Cars nowadays have ton of pieces and parts, look at this gem, 2 screws holding this thing together !

Here is the 'helicopter' view from the top.  2 pearl white plastic bucket seats.  Notice no backseat, this beast was made for performance !

Really, I am considering putting this diamond in the rough into the Barrett Jackson auction.  If it doesn't net me 75 large then I don't know what would.

Crazy how one year can change things.  Last year I did a couple triathlons, and was expecting to do at least a couple this year.  Well, half way through August and I still haven't done one yet and likely will not.  I have just had other commitments this summer and couldn't get into any events.

Ryders Joke of the Day.

A young man walked into the local welfare office, marched straight up to the counter and said, "Hi, I hate drawing welfare. I would really rather find a job. The man behind the counter replied, "Your timing is amazing. We've just got a listing from a very wealthy man who wants a chauffeur/bodyguard for his nympho daughter. You'll have to drive around in a big black Mercedes, but the suits, shirts, and ties are provided. Because of the long hours of this job, meals will also be provided. You will also be required to escort the young lady on her overseas holidays. The salary package is $200,000 a year. ". The young man said, "You're bullshitting me, man! " The man behind the counter said, "Well, you started it! "

Slayer, The Arts, X-Games....

How was everyone's long weekend ?  Mine wasn't too bad.  The weekend started off fine with the Exodus, Rob Zombie, Slayer concert friday night.

Me and Sembal went to check this out.  We didn't make it for Exodus and neither of us are into them that much, but we checked out the other 2 bands.

This was my first time seeing Rob Zombie and I was quite impressed with his show.  He has these huge TV screens right behind his stage and there is always something playing on them to keep you amused.  Plus we had different 'creatures' come up onto the stage during a few different songs to add in some punch.

I was very impressed.

Now onto Slayer.  First off, these guys aren't rock n roll like zombie, they are heavy metal (speed metal) at it's finest.  I still to this day have not seen a band like slayer play with as much intensity as these guys.  These guys are almost 50 years old and bands nowadays wouldn't be able to keep up to these guys.  Completely intense show, it was awesome !!

Zombie 7.5/10

Slayer 8/10

I was checking my twitter account throughout the concert for updates in the Rider game.  Seems like I didn't miss much.  Sounds like not the most electrifying game was taking place in Saskatchewan.  That team has got to seriously change things or they won't even make the playoffs.

Thought this picture was pretty funny......Pretty much sums up the Riders season so far....I am sure you all have seen it by now.

Guaranteed Increased Athletic Performance for all !!!!

Wow, how could anyone pass up this physio clinic by my house.  Maybe we should send the Riders here ?

If anything, they have a cool logo.  Seriously, what is this little physio clinic doing with this satanic logo on their window ?  What type of crowd are they attracting ?  haha.

Went for a bike ride with Ryder and Ang.  Ryder loved it !!  Wasn't sure what to expect and so far so good !!

Here is a pic of a car parked out front the the dome where Slayer was playing.....

Is this not the coolest logo for a band ??

Since this is Ang and mine anniversary weekend, we decided not to do gifts but to get a babysitter and a hotel room for the night.

We got a room at 'The Arts' here in Calgary.

This is a pretty cool trendy hotel, and our room was awesome.  If you are going to stay there, stay in room 702, it was awesome.  The room was huge and was decorated really nice.

If I was a little disappointed, it was with the pool.  Now they do have an outdoor pool which is nice, but not only is it for hotel guests, it is for anyone.  So on a hot day you can go to this pool and hang out.  If you have ever been to the pools in Vegas, this is the exact same thing.  People lounging about and drinking/getting drunk.

The issue I had was when Ang and I went to go to the pool, we were told that there was only 2 seats left in the pool, and if we didn't take them we would be on a waiting list for a hour.  i couldn't believe we were almost put on a waiting list, and we were actually staying at the hotel !!  To me, people staying at the hotel should be able to get in no matter what, no matter how busy it is.

So upon grabbing our seats at this table, we ended up sitting right beside Henry Burris (who was soaking up the sun and enjoying the day after a hard fought victory the night before).

I spoke with him just a little, a really nice guy.  I didn't tell him I was a Rider fan, I just spoke with him for a bit and that was it.

Those of you that know me know that I love the X-Games.  They were just on the past few days in California.  One of these years I will go to them and check them out live.

But...did any of you watch the female Moto X Enduro ?  It was terrible.  Don't get me wrong, women can do whatever guys can do, and all that jazz, but this was very painful to watch.  They can't have it next year.  Check out the video clip below and you will see why.

Ryder's Joke of the Day

A preacher said, "Anyone with 'special needs' who wants to be prayed over, please come forward to the front by the altar."

With that, an Native man got in line, and when it was his turn, the Preacher asked, "Johnny TwoFeathers, what do you want me to pray about for you?"

Johnny TwoFeathers replied, "Preacher, I need you to pray for help with my hearing."

The preacher put one finger of one hand in Johnny TwoFeathers ear, placed his other hand on top of Johnny TwoFeathers head, and then  prayed and prayed and prayed.

He prayed a "blue streak" for Johnny, and the whole congregation joined in with great enthusiasm.

After a few minutes, the preacher removed his hands, stood back and asked, " Johnny, how is your hearing now?"

Johnny TwoFeathers answered, "Don't know.  It ain't 'til next week."
